About the Image Compressor

Create a smaller JPG or WebP copy and compare its size with the original before downloading it.

How to use it

  1. Choose an image.
  2. Select JPG or WebP and move the quality slider.
  3. Compress the image and review the output size and reduction.

How compression works

Canvas encoding applies lossy compression at the selected quality. Lower quality usually reduces size further but can introduce visible artifacts.

Example

A high-resolution photo can often be exported at 75 to 85 percent quality for a smaller web copy with a similar visual appearance.

Notes

Results depend on image detail and the browser encoder. An already optimized source can occasionally produce an output that is not smaller.
