Chemical Equation Balancer

Find a smallest positive whole-number balance for supported simple formulas.

About the Chemical Equation Balancer

Balancing places whole-number coefficients before formulas so each supported element has the same count on both sides.

How to use it

  1. Enter simple formulas separated by plus signs.
  2. Separate the two sides with -> or =.
  3. Balance to view the smallest supported positive coefficient set.

How it works

The calculator builds element-count equations and solves their coefficient ratios. It does not alter formula subscripts.

Example

H2 + O2 -> H2O becomes 2 H2 + O2 -> 2 H2O.

Notes

This MVP supports common neutral formulas and parentheses. Ionic charges, phases, redox notation and ambiguous or underdetermined equations return validation errors. No reaction or synthesis procedure is provided.
