Air Density Calculator

Estimate ideal dry-air density from an entered pressure and absolute temperature.

About the Air Density Calculator

This calculator applies an ideal dry-air relationship to an entered pressure and absolute temperature.

How to use it

  1. Enter air pressure in pascals.
  2. Enter absolute temperature in kelvin.
  3. Calculate density in kg/m³.

Formula

ρ = p ÷ (R × T), using R = 287.05 J/(kg·K) for dry air.

Example

At 101,325 Pa and 288.15 K, the idealized result is approximately 1.225 kg/m³.

Notes

Humidity, composition and local atmospheric conditions are excluded. The result is not aircraft-performance or aviation-safety data.
