Calculate idealized mechanical work from force, movement distance and their angle.
This calculator estimates signed mechanical work from a constant force acting across a straight-line displacement.
Work uses W = F × d × cos(θ). A 0° angle gives maximum positive work, 90° gives zero and angles above 90° produce negative work.
A constant 100 N force acting through 5 m at 0° corresponds to 500 J of idealized work.
The model assumes constant force and a single displacement direction; changing forces and paths require a more detailed analysis.
