Monitor Pixel Density Calculator

Calculate display PPI, total pixels and aspect ratio.

About the Monitor Pixel Density Calculator

Pixel density compares a display resolution with its physical diagonal size to describe how tightly pixels are packed.

How to use it

  1. Enter horizontal and vertical resolution in pixels.
  2. Enter the diagonal screen size in inches.
  3. Calculate to see PPI, pixel count and aspect ratio.

PPI formula

PPI = √(width² + height²) ÷ diagonal inches. Total pixels equal width × height.

Example

A 27-inch 3840 × 2160 display has about 163.18 PPI, 8,294,400 pixels and a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Notes

PPI describes physical density, not image quality by itself. Viewing distance, panel technology, scaling and subpixel layout also affect perceived sharpness.
