Measure effective data throughput from an observed file size and transfer duration.
Throughput describes the effective rate at which useful file data moved during an observed interval.
Effective Mbps equals file bits divided by duration. When overhead is supplied, the calculator divides by the remaining useful fraction to estimate a raw rate.
Moving 1 decimal GB in 10 seconds is 800 Mbps effective throughput; with 20% overhead, the estimated raw rate is 1,000 Mbps.
The overhead adjustment is a simple ratio and does not model retransmissions, compression, burst behavior or measurement uncertainty.
