Image Resolution Calculator

Measure image resolution and estimate physical dimensions at a chosen DPI.

About the Image Resolution Calculator

Summarize a raster image by total pixels, proportions and optional print dimensions.

How to use it

  1. Enter image width and height in pixels.
  2. Optionally enter a positive DPI.
  3. Calculate megapixels, ratio and print size.

Formula

Megapixels equal width times height divided by one million. Print inches equal pixels divided by DPI.

Example

6000 by 4000 pixels is 24 megapixels and a 3:2 ratio.

Notes

Megapixel count alone does not measure sharpness, compression, focus or source quality.
