How to use it
- Enter fiber length and attenuation per kilometer.
- Enter connector and optional splice counts with their stated loss values.
- Calculate each contribution and the estimated total.

Estimate stated fiber, connector and splice losses across an optical path.
This estimator creates a simple optical loss budget from length-based attenuation and stated connection losses.
Total loss equals length in km times dB/km, plus connector count times connector loss, plus splice count times splice loss.
Ten kilometers at 0.2 dB/km, two 0.5 dB connectors and one 0.1 dB splice total 3.1 dB.
Use specifications appropriate to the wavelength, fiber, components and conditions being evaluated; this is not a certification measurement.
