Tile Calculator

Estimate whole tiles from surface and tile dimensions.

About the Tile Calculator

This estimator compares a rectangular surface area with one tile face area and rounds the result to whole tiles.

How to use it

  1. Enter surface length and width.
  2. Enter tile length and width using the same selected unit.
  3. Choose a waste percentage and calculate.

Estimation formula

Tile count is surface area divided by tile face area, rounded upward. The waste allowance is applied to surface area before calculating the second count.

Example

A 12 m² area using 0.6 m × 0.6 m tiles needs 34 whole tiles, or 37 after a 10% area allowance.

Notes

The estimate does not model layout direction, grout spacing, edge cuts, patterns, breakage conditions or differently shaped rooms.
