Power Density Calculator

Calculate average power divided by stated die area.

About the Power Density Calculator

This tool spreads stated power uniformly over a geometric die area.

How to use it

  1. Enter nonnegative power.
  2. Enter positive die area.
  3. Calculate W/mm² and W/cm².

Formula

Power density equals watts divided by area.

Example

100 W over 200 mm² equals 0.5 W/mm² or 50 W/cm².

Notes

Real heat distribution is not uniform; this value must not be used as a thermal design result.
