Irrigation Water Calculator

Convert an entered water depth over a field area into liters and cubic meters.

About the Irrigation Water Calculator

Translate a user-selected water depth across a field area into net and gross volume.

How to use it

  1. Enter field area and area unit.
  2. Enter the water depth and unit.
  3. Enter assumed irrigation efficiency and calculate.

Formula

Net cubic meters equal square meters times depth in meters. Gross volume divides net volume by efficiency as a decimal.

Example

Ten millimeters over 1,000 m² is 10 m³ net water; at 80% efficiency the gross estimate is 12.5 m³.

Notes

This tool does not determine when or how much to irrigate. Crop demand, soil, weather, system performance and local restrictions are outside the calculation.
