Thermal Design Power Calculator

Apply a simple margin to component power and compare optional cooling capacity.

About the Thermal Design Power Calculator

This estimator adds a percentage margin to a stated power value.

How to use it

  1. Enter component power.
  2. Enter a nonnegative margin and optional cooling capacity.
  3. Calculate and compare the simple estimate.

Formula

Required cooling estimate equals power times one plus margin percentage.

Example

100 W with a 20% margin gives a 120 W estimate.
