Excavation Volume Calculator

Calculate a simple rectangular geometric volume and optional bulking adjustment.

About the Excavation Volume Calculator

This page applies a rectangular volume formula to entered dimensions and optionally scales the result by a user-entered bulking factor.

How to use it

  1. Choose rectangular or trench label.
  2. Enter length, width and depth in meters.
  3. Optionally enter a bulking percentage and calculate.

Formula

Geometric volume = length × width × depth. Adjusted volume = geometric volume × (1 + bulking percent ÷ 100).

Example

10 m × 2 m × 3 m gives 60 m³; a 25% factor gives an adjusted 75 m³.

Notes

The shape selector uses the same rectangular arithmetic. Slopes, supports, soil behavior, access, utilities and site conditions are excluded. This is not trench or underground-work safety guidance.
