Estimate how many calories your body uses each day at rest.
Basal metabolic rate estimates the energy your body uses for essential functions while at rest, such as breathing and circulation.
For males: BMR = 10 × weight (kg) + 6.25 × height (cm) - 5 × age + 5. For females, the final adjustment is -161 instead of +5.
BMR is an estimate and individual needs can differ. Results are for general reference only and do not replace professional medical or nutrition advice.
Using the male equation for age 30, height 175 cm and weight 70 kg gives an estimated BMR of about 1,649 calories per day.
