pH Calculator

Calculate an idealized pH value from an entered hydrogen ion concentration.

About the pH Calculator

The pH scale can be represented mathematically from an entered hydrogen ion concentration.

How to use it

  1. Enter a positive hydrogen ion concentration in mol/L.
  2. Calculate the negative base-10 logarithm.
  3. Read the idealized numerical pH result.

Formula

pH = −log10([H+]).

Example

An entered concentration of 1 × 10⁻⁷ mol/L produces an idealized pH of 7.

Notes

Real measurements can depend on activity, temperature and instrumentation. This page does not assess water, health, exposure or laboratory safety.
