About the Carbon Footprint Calculator
This basic calculator combines several common activity estimates into one monthly and yearly CO2e total.
Estimation logic
The calculator uses 0.475 kg CO2e per kWh, 2.31 kg per liter of gasoline-equivalent fuel, 0.192 kg per car kilometer when consumption is omitted, and 250 kg per flight.
Example
If vehicle fuel consumption is supplied, transport emissions use distance times liters per 100 km times the gasoline factor.
Notes
These deliberately simple factors are educational defaults. Grid mix, vehicle, fuel, route, aircraft and household conditions can materially change an inventory.
