Molar Mass Calculator

Parse a supported chemical formula and add its atomic mass contributions.

About the Molar Mass Calculator

Molar mass is the mass of one mole of a substance based on the element symbols and atom counts in its formula.

How to use it

  1. Enter a supported formula with correct capitalization.
  2. Use whole-number subscripts and parentheses where needed.
  3. Calculate to view total molar mass and each element contribution.

How it works

The calculator multiplies each supported atomic weight by its atom count, then adds the contributions in grams per mole.

Example

H2O contains two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom, giving an approximate molar mass of 18.015 g/mol.

Notes

This educational parser supports common element symbols, integer subscripts and parentheses. Charges, hydrates and state labels are not supported.
