PC Power Consumption Calculator

Estimate PC energy consumption and electricity cost over time.

About the PC Power Consumption Calculator

Translate an average PC power draw into approximate energy use and cost for a typical day, 30-day month and 365-day year.

How to use it

  1. Enter average power draw in watts.
  2. Enter daily usage hours from 0 to 24.
  3. Enter the local price per kWh and calculate.

Formula

Daily kWh = watts × hours ÷ 1,000. Monthly and yearly energy multiply the daily value by 30 and 365; cost equals kWh × price.

Example

A 400 W PC used 8 hours daily consumes about 3.2 kWh per day and 96 kWh in a 30-day month.

Notes

Actual power changes with workload and idle time. Measure at the wall for a better average and use the billing currency associated with your entered price.
