Thrust-to-Weight Ratio Calculator

Compare two entered force values with a dimensionless ratio.

About the Thrust-to-Weight Ratio Calculator

A thrust-to-weight ratio compares an entered thrust force with an entered weight force in the same unit.

How to use it

  1. Enter thrust in newtons.
  2. Enter weight force in newtons.
  3. Calculate the dimensionless ratio.

Formula

TWR = thrust ÷ weight force.

Example

15,000 N divided by 12,000 N gives a ratio of 1.25.

Notes

A single ratio does not model drag, trajectory, stability, structure or propulsion performance. It is not design, certification or safety guidance.
