Common conversions

Eight bits equal one byte. In this converter, 1 KB equals 1,000 bytes, 1 MB equals 1,000 KB and 1 GB equals 1,000 MB.

Decimal base 1000

This MVP uses SI decimal units commonly shown by storage manufacturers. It does not use binary base 1024.

Binary unit note

Binary multiples are properly named KiB, MiB, GiB and TiB. Operating systems may display binary quantities while labeling them with decimal abbreviations.
