Measure net profit and return on investment, with optional annualized ROI.
ROI compares the net gain or loss from an investment with the original amount invested. This calculator can also express that return as an annualized rate when a time period is supplied.
Net profit equals final value minus initial investment and additional costs. ROI equals net profit divided by initial investment, multiplied by 100. Annualized ROI uses the compound annual growth formula.
ROI is a simple historical or scenario-based measurement. It does not predict future performance, account for every tax or cash flow, or provide investment advice.
If an initial $5,000 investment becomes $6,200 after $200 of additional costs, net profit is $1,000 and simple ROI is 20%.
