Cake Pan Converter

Scale batter by comparing the top areas of two cake pans.

About the Cake Pan Converter

Compare pan surface areas using dimensions measured in one consistent unit.

How to use it

  1. Choose each pan shape and enter its dimensions.
  2. For rectangles, enter both length and width.
  3. Optionally add batter amount, then calculate.

Formula

Round area is pi times radius squared; square and rectangle areas use side squared or length times width. Scale factor is new area divided by original area.

Example

Moving from an 8-inch round pan to a 10-inch round pan gives an area factor of 1.5625.

Notes

The calculation compares top area only and does not model pan depth, fill level, bake time or overflow.
