Pattern Scaling Calculator

Find a uniform scale factor from one known measurement to a target measurement.

About the Pattern Scaling Calculator

Calculate the mathematical percentage for uniform enlargement or reduction.

How to use it

  1. Measure the same reference line on the original and target.
  2. Enter both values in the same unit.
  3. Calculate the factor and print or transform percentage.

Formula

Scale factor equals target measurement divided by original measurement; scale percentage is that factor times 100.

Example

Changing a 90-unit measurement to 99 units gives a factor of 1.1 and a scale of 110%.

Notes

Uniform scaling changes every dimension equally. It is not garment grading and does not account for fit, ease, seam allowance or body proportions.
