Cooking Time Calculator

Compare a reference cooking time with a different item weight using a simple estimate.

About the Cooking Time Calculator

Explore how a reference time changes under two simplified weight-scaling assumptions.

How to use it

  1. Enter original weight and time.
  2. Enter new weight in the same unit.
  3. Choose linear or square-root scaling and calculate.

Estimation logic

Linear time multiplies by the weight ratio; square-root time multiplies by the square root of that ratio.

Example

Doubling weight from a 60-minute reference estimates 120 minutes linearly or about 84.85 minutes by square-root scaling.

Notes

Shape, thickness, equipment, starting temperature and method are not modeled. The result never confirms doneness or safety.
